Costs
In a world where transport is a major part of economic activity and the movement of people and goods professional driving skills are becoming a necessity. But acquiring this skill isn't inexpensive. In Europe truck drivers need an Code 95 Certificate to drive trucks that weigh more than 7.5 tonnes. The certificate has to be added to a driver's licence category C or C+E, and it is valid for five years. The certificate can be added to C1 or C1E licences, allowing the driver to drive with lighter trailer combinations.
To obtain a Code 95 certificate, you must pass a medical examination and pass a psychotest. After completing the course, you will be issued a plastic Code 95 certificate that can be added to your driving licence. The course fee includes a medical examination, PKZ service and payment for the plastic Code 95 Certificate.
The cost of the Code 95 certificate is similar to the cost of other driving courses. Moreover, it is important to note that this course must be held at a driving school that is approved by the CBR. Trainers must adhere to strict CBR guidelines. Trainers must notify the CBR when, for instance the student is absent.
After the course, the student must visit the Road Traffic Safety Directorate to apply for a new licence. The deadline for replacing the licence is six months from the date of the completion of the course. This requirement is intended to ensure that the driver is at the required competence and knowledge to drive a heavy vehicle. Additionally the driver should be able to read the speed limit and kilometer signs on the road.
Training options
The code 95 on a driver's licence indicates that you have completed the mandatory training to operate buses or trucks professionally. This is a condition you must fulfill every five years to renew your permit. The 35-hour course can be completed at a driving academy or at home via e-learning. It is possible to spread the course over a period of five years. The courses are often covered by your employer.
Code 95 training is divided into two types: short and long courses. The long course lasts for about four weeks and ends with a governmental exam. After passing the exam you will receive an ID card in plastic. The card has to be submitted to the unification of the European certificate database. The school where you studied will then submit the card to the database. It takes 14 days to process the card.

To be able offer an educational course that is able to issue Code 95, you must follow certain protocols as a trainer. First, you must submit a plan of instruction to the CBR. You will receive a certificate from the CBR when you completed the course successfully. You can then send this to the RDW. You can then renew your license with the municipality once you have submitted it successfully. Exams
In order to get the code 95 on your license you must pass both the theoretical and practical exams. These exams can either be taken separately, or in conjunction with the acquisition of a basic category licence at a driving school. On successful completion of the test, you'll be awarded a certificate as well as a code 95 certificate. The card is valid for 5 years and must be renewed prior to the expiry date.

The new style of licences for buses and trucks was introduced in the year 2011. The licence is laminated similar to the European driving licence, with the bearer's photograph and name (in Latin and Cyrillic scripts) as well as the date/place of issue as well as categories that are allowed and signature.
